The water quality at Llyngwyn is holding, with no spike in phosphate or nitrate reading, or appearance of algal bloom. This is due to the very cold and wet spring, and current closure of the neighbouring chicken farm.
Wild Carp Trust chair of trustees Dr Nigel Hudson said, “We’re up against the clock to save as many Llyngwyn carp as possible, before algae returns and dissolved oxygen crashes. We’ve been very lucky so far this year, with the incredibly cold and wet weather, which has flushed a lot of water through and kept it cool, and there’s been hardly any sunny days so far this year. So, we’re going to keep at it with the carp rescue, keeping our fingers crossed that the water quality will hold for as long as possible through the summer.”
