Wild carp fishing at Llyngwyn lake
Access
1. Only anglers or non-fishing guests in possession of a Wild Carp Trust permit can enter the site.
2. Fishing is entirely at your risk. Neither the Wild Carp Trust or Rhayader & Elan Valley Angling Association will be held responsible for personal injury, or loss or damage to your belongings.
3. The lake is accessible through a locked gate. Once your booking has been confirmed, you will be notified how to access the car park and lake. Please ensure you lock the gate behind you.
4. Please park in the car park only, be mindful that bivvies will also be erected in this area.
5. Bivvies are to be erected in the car park only, umbrellas can be used at your chosen swim.
6. Night fishing is permitted, but keep noise and flashlights to a minimum.
7. There are two huts available for storing gear or escaping the weather: one by the car park, another partway around the lake.
8. For your convenience there is a Portaloo in the car park, please leave it how you would expect to find it. Bring your own loo rolls.
9. Please do not block the footpath around the lake.
10. Please pick up all litter and take it home with you.
11. No cutting of vegetation or clearing of swims.
12. No drugs.
13. Alcohol is allowed but please be sensible.
14. Please report any lost tackle, e.g. caught line in trees, to Peter Whipp on 07301 139925.
15. The taking and sharing of social media photos are encouraged. Use hashtags #wildcarptrust and #wildcarpwales
16. No YouTube or commercial media filming without prior agreement with the Wild Carp Trust and Rhayader & Elan Valley Angling Association.
Llyngwyn wild carp fishing rules
Llyngwyn is a wild lake and the carp are small. Traditional pleasure style fishing is requested, with tench-style or stalking tactics. You can also fly fish for the carp.
1. Avon type rods and fly-fishing rods only permitted.
2. Maximum 2 rods per angler to be used at any time.
3. Maximum 8lb line.
4. Barbless or crimped barb hooks only, maximum size 8.
5. No ground bait, although particle baits and pellets are permitted.
6. No bait boats, spombing or spodding. Loose feed by hand, pellet feeder, or catapult only.
7. Permitted baits are sweetcorn, luncheon meat, bread, dog biscuits, maggots, pellets, particles and boilies. Pop up and wafter boilie hook baits must be made from ingredients which are for the consumption of fish.
8. Worms and artificial baits are not permitted.
9. Unhooking mats must be used. One per angler.
10. Minimum 24” landing net, micro mesh preferred.
11. No keep nets.
12. All carp to be well-rested prior to release.
13. Free running leads or feeders only, no fixed or semi-fixed leads or feeders.
14. Rods should not be left unattended.
15. All anglers must possess an in-date EA rod licence.
16. Keep fish over a cradle or mat for pictures, no standing up with fish.
17. Any trout caught must be returned. Please ensure they are well rested before returning them.
